Working Group
– Members
The Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS) is an international academic consortium founded and co-led by Drs. Liang-Kung Chen, Hidenori Arai, and Jean Woo. The organization established a steering committee by inviting sarcopenia researchers from various Asian nations, including Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. The initial steering committee members were appointed during the AWGS’s establishment. Subsequently, new steering committee members are nominated by the chairpersons and approved by the existing steering committee based on their scholarly contributions to sarcopenia research. Additionally, steering committee members nominate AWGS members to participate in AWGS-related research initiatives. AWGS members also form specialized interest groups to conduct targeted research projects in their respective areas of expertise and interest on the knowledge gap of sarcopenia.
